To be an election worker you must be:
· Be a US Citizen
· Registered in the County in which you work (Sedgwick County)
· Not a Candidate on the Ballot
· Have transportation to the assigned polling site
· Be able to lift 25-50 lbs
· Be able to be on your feet for a number of hours at a time
· Attend an election training class (one 3 hour class) * Classes will be October 20-25th
· Limited space available
· Pay is $120 for Election Day
· Election working hours are 4:45 a.m. to 8-10 p.m.
(Polls close at 7:00 p.m. but must assist any voter in line when polls close and complete a closing process)
· Cannot leave for any reason – bring lunch, snacks, medications, and comfortable shoes
“Standby Workers” Wanted!
A “Standby Worker” is someone who is willing to attend an election training class and standby for an opening to work. Openings occur for various reasons like sickness, family emergencies, unexpected circumstances that occur leaving a spot vacant for another worker. When this occurs, I call on a trained “Standby Worker” to work.

Most positions will be for a Cross-trained Clerk or Provisional Ballot Judge. Position descriptions are as follows:
_____ Provisional Ballot Judge: Determine the correct ballot style for voters whose information does not match the registration database and assist voters in completing provisional ballot procedures. Be able to read maps accurately.
____ Cross-trained Clerk: Be able to learn all aspects of the Greeter, Check-in Clerk / Computer Operator, and Machine Clerk positions to facilitate a smooth work flow throughout the day.
Ø Greeter: Be able to direct incoming voters in a pleasant and correct manner. Be able to answer voter questions on voting procedures, show sample ballots to voters, and queue voters into lines to avoid congestion.
Ø Check-in Clerk: (Only at Election Day Polling Places) Be able to find voter names from an alphabetic list, check voter ID when required and complete a form with a voter’s assigned ballot style. Be attentive to detail.
Ø Machine Clerk: Escort voters to the voting machines, set machines for correct ballot style for each voter and assist voters on use of the machine. Learn to operate voting equipment and troubleshoot basic equipment problems.
